Upcoming Activies

Oct 13th

Fantastic Food Drive: We'll meet at Mt. Calvary at 2pm. From there, you will get into teams of 2-4 and receive a list of non-perishable food items with corresponding point values. The teams will then get into the neighborhoods, door to door, and try to collect as many points as possible by asking for a donation. After an hour and a half or so (depending on the weather), we'll meet back at Mt. Calvary to total up the points and hang out. You'll be back home in time for supper.

Oct 19th-21st

LSF Study Weekend: Rev. Matthew Payne, from Irvine, CA will present "The Great Reversal and Christian Vocation", explaining Christ's work for us on the cross and how this impacts the daily lives of Christians. Cost is $20 plues 3 meals. If you want to attend, please email or speak with Vicar before October 4th so that hotel/housing can be arranged.

Oct 26th

Swiftel Clean-up: We'll get to watch a little bit of the rodeo and afterwards clean up the seats and hallways of the Swiftel Center. This is a fundraiser for the LSF to help pay for future events. We are needing a crew of 12 people.

Mission Trip

"Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth." (1 John 3:18) After much research, conversation, questions, and prayer, I am pleased to let you know that we will go to New Orleans, LA on January 4-14, 2008.

Some may wonder why we are going down to the gulf coast...again. This is a valid concern! Hurricane relief efforts have been incredible 2-3 years ago. However, as time has passed, many people think that there's little more to do. Did you know that it is estimated that it will take at least 8 more years to rebuild and restore New Orleans??

We will be going down to a place called Camp Restore, a Lutheran Church in New Orleans that has opened their building to provide housing for volunteers. Jobs will include basic repair work such as painting, flooring, etc. Most of these jobs are fairly simple tasks once one is shown how to do these things. We may also take a class or two at Lowe's before we go. These skills will be useful for you later in life. There also should be a great opportunity to share Christ's love to the people both in deed and in word.

Cost? With a fundraiser or two, congregational support, and Thrivent matching funds and grants, there should be very little cost to go. If you are interested in going, please let me know. I need to have a good idea of who will go by the beginning of November.
